\nStartPage Guard (SPG) protects your PC from cyberscam, by monitoring status of your internet browser StartPage and preventing it from any unauthorized changes. If any changes are detected SPG takes an appropriate action. It can either alert the user indicating which settings has been changed, and with the single mouse-click revert all changes, or if selected - it will revert all changes automatically, without requesting user assistance.
\n
\nMalicious programs (viruses, trojans, backdoors, etc.) sometime change the StartPage to "gain the ground". Spywares use this way to invade user's privacy by tracking destinations which user visited, and collecting personal information. In some cases this activity may be totally transparent to the user. But most often this is just plain annoyance when start page is changed without asking user's permission.

\n
\nDisplays start page address which is currently set as a start page in your Internet Browser.
\n
\n2. Selected StartPage
\n
\nYou can enter here the address you want to use as the default start page. SPG will remember this address and "guard it" against any unauthorised change. Every time you start SPG it will display here address of your selected start page.
\n

\n
\nLet you quickly choose the start page.
\n

\n
\nIf checked, it will monitor your StartPage settings every time you restart Windows. If changes are detected it will either inform you or (if "Revert to Selected CheckBox" is checked) it will silently change the StartPage to the one you have selected.
106 Sometime when you try to change your home page in the Internet Options dialog box, you may encounter problem that you are unable to type in the Address box, and the following buttons: Use Current, Use Default, Use Blank are unavailable (greyed).
\n
\nThis issue can occur if you are using a customized version of Internet Explorer that was packaged by using Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK).
\n
\nIf Indicator displays the lock bounded in circle it indicates that lock is in effect. To remove lock click once on Indicator's lock icon. To set the lock on - click icon again.
\n
\nPLEASE NOTE:
\n
\nI endeavor to create software which is "CPU friendly" - software that saves CPU cycles, memory etc., leaving more power for other applications. (SAVING RESOURCES IS GOOD right ? =) SPG's modus operandi is based on PASSIVE model - security.
107 Instead of running in the background (and stealing resources from the computer) - it works only when it is called, and (if selected) when Windows starts. If it is required to run SPG check more often - SPG can be run from the command line, scheduler, or AT service. For instance:
\n
\n- if SPG should check start page and quit - if no changes detected:
\n
\n SPGUARD /S
\n
\n- if SPG should check start page, fix if changed without prompting, and quit:
\n
\n SPGUARD /S /R
\n
\nI hope that this information will help you utilize SPG to the full extent.
